Congrats on hitting $3 million and on your way to $5 million. 🙂 I totally agree that the first million is the hardest and my husband and I are currently chugging our way towards it. I also saved up money before having my daughter and it gave me so much peace of mind that made my pregnancy and parental leave much less stressful. I also gave up my side hustle right before having her and may pick up another one once we feel safe enough to put her in daycare when she’s older.

Mostly, I stay invested and it worked out pretty well.
Congratulations!
Yeah, I agree – babies are the worst. 😉

Hi Mark! Nevermind the age diff, you’re our financial goal! I think a 1/5 split between house and portfolio was our dead on our target too. I don’t think we did a million a year, I think that was Mr. Market haha.

I am 67 so almost double your age. My net worth is 5 million but a million of that is the house, so 4 million. I am blown away you did a million in a year. loved comparing your expenses list to mine, and I don’t know how you do it but we spend a lot more on certain items and there is only two of us. We spend about 2k more a year in groceries. I think a lot of that has to do with eating lots of fruit which is expensive – trying to stay healthy. our total expenses added up to 61K and we don’t have a mortgage.

Congrats on the new baby
